Shortly before 11 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, the Westport Police Department received reports of a vehicle at the intersection of Long Lots Road and Bayberry Lane that appeared to have been involved in a car crash.
Police said that upon arrival, officers found the vehicle with its hazard lights activated in the backyard of a residence in the area.
The investigation determined that the driver drove through the intersection, over the curb and sidewalk, crashed through a fence, severed a pine tree, skidded and came to final rest in the backyard of this residence.
According to police, “the vehicle was disabled and heavily damaged. There was no operator found with the vehicle by investigating officers.”
The investigation into the crash determined that the driver was Westport resident Andrew Parry, who was later found on foot by officers who had been searching the area and admitted to being the driver of the vehicle.
Parry was subsequently charged with evading responsibility and failure to drive in the proper lane. Parry posted a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on Monday, Dec. 30.
